FOR SALE BY OWNER
15 years ago I sold and bought a house FSBO ........
Yes that was me the one who wanted to save money and do it myself. I had a buyer for my home ( That was a Realtor) and I had found a dream home that was FSBO in a community I was in love it.
When I started the process I had agents/Realtors telling me you need to hire "ME" ... you need help... you need ME ......
I asked over and over and over WHY. What skills do you offer to help me ? What will you do for me that I have not already done for me self ?
DEAD SILENCE ....... Chirp Chirp Chirp........ Again W H Y I asked and nothing. Not one every expressed to me the value they brought to the transactions.
Fast forward 15 years and I think about this a lot when I'm helping someone buy a home.
KNOW WHAT YOU DO AND YOUR WORTH !
Its funny how after so many years I hit auto pilot and I forget the things I do to protect, educate and assist with.
A recent experience prompted this blog. My buyer was going to accept slow drains on a slab home during a home inspection. He figured is was hair or something easy to fix.
NOT ME .... See I have experienced issue AFTER a closing where they slab had to be jackhammered due to a plumbing breach/ hair/toys or roots and it was EXPENSIVE ! I suggested the buyer keep this in the request if it was an easy fix the seller would agree. If it ended up being a major plumbing issue it was not something he was going to have to tackle after closing.
I am going to start a blog on KNOW YOUR WORTH and track these small but very helpful experiences. When someone expresses why they need to hire me Ill have a BOOK to give them !
