NYC's Ball Drop has nothing on PA's weird drops

I thought Kennett Square was the only unusual "drop" with a giant stainless steel mushroom and the crowd singing "Sweet Caroline" at midnight, but the local Kennett Paper listed more Pennsylvania oddities, for example:

Pittsburgh- a 1000 lb. illuminated ball made of recycled materials, symbol of this "green" city

Carlisle-a 50 lb. button (?) accented with LED lights

Mechanicsburg- a wrench (not sure how big it will be) for the settlers who repaired 19th C wagonsKennett mushroom

Harrisburg-a giant strawberry falls from the downtown Hilton

Hershey- You know it had to be a Hershey's kiss, followed by fireworks

Lancaster- a red rose symbolic of the War of the Roses between Lancaster and York clans

York- What else but a white rose?

Lancaster- the famous Pennsylvania Dutch treat, an 18 ft. Lebanon Bologna

Bethlehem- home of marshmallow Peeps, a giant Peep

Duncannon- a 10 ft. lightning Glider sled (manufactured here from 1904 to 1990}

Pottsville-a Yuengling beer bottle in honor of the oldest brewery in America

Beavertown-Bucky the Beaver suspended by a 75 ft. ladder

McClure- in honor of their famous bean soup festival (?) a kettle

Dillsburg- a giant pickle descends into a barrel, followed by fireworks

Hi Carolyn

Fascinating! What an interesting group of New Year's Eve drops. I'll have to see what things drop on NYE here in California.

The Hershey kiss works for me.  That is one cute town with the kiss street lights.
