Staying in Touch with Former Clients
Fellow ActiveRainer, Larry Johnson is sponsoring a contest this month whose focus is on Keeping in Touch with Former Clients. There have been many unique posts offering insights into the manner other members reach out to their former client with the intent to be there when the light shines when someone discusses buying or selling a home.
My efforts are not along the lines of the meet and refresh acquaintances. For the past few years, I have lost a majority of my selling clients to relocations out of state. Some for business, retirement evacuations and for the short sale clients, just to get away to restart a troubled life.

For the rest, I do have my reminder cards to celebrate their purchase anniversary, and to date have not seen any of them come back. For all there are my Holiday Greeting cards with my calendars. This year I sent out over 350 combined and to the entire database, received only 3 back, all from rental clients.
I do like the calls I get when the cards are received to just check in and thank me for still thinking of them.
This past November was a good month as 3 of my former clients reached out to ask for some advice on selling and for move up possibilities. That will be continued activity after the first of the year.
As I find myself in the waning art of my career, I choose to devote the efforts needed to stay in touch with the business but am not excessively motivated to push beyond what I am doing. Those days for me are in my rear view mirror, and now it is more about quality of life.
