Happy New Year! Happy 2016: a quick reflection and observation about the past year, the present and the upcoming future.
As I sat here in front of my PC on the first day of 2016, I started reflecting on the year before. It made me think, is the New Year about new beginnings? Or is it about new goals? New objectives? Or is it about the same goals and same objectives? What have I learned? Well I have learned many things and one of which was: I have learned to deal much better with adversity on many different levels.
Reflecting on 2015, there were five key takeaways for me:
Number One, I did not give up, rather I continued to persevere no matter how difficult the challenges were placed in front of me.
Legendary Baseball Player Babe Ruth had a powerful saying: It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up. I totally subscribe to that theory and practice it day in and day out.
The second most important thing I learned was: it is not about goal setting. I know I am going against the grain of most motivational gurus’ philosophies as well as to what the preachers of goal settings tell us. Instead of that, I am a believer of SYSTEMS.
As a Realtor, my objective has been and is always to build my business. In order to achieve that, I need to have a system. Needless to say, my system consists of marketing and sales, without either of those two, my goal setting would be, just a waste of time. The system also includes vigorous time blocking and time management.
Third, it is not about writing down how much money I need, want to make, or want to have. It is all about Client Service. When I provide excellent Client Service the money comes, just as the referrals come, that in turn translates to more of everything.
Fourth, it is about Relationships: personal, business and client relationships. The better they are the more enjoyable life becomes on all levels. I strive to continue on improving in the relationship building on all levels.
Fifth, I am a believer, that it is how we look at things which in turn make a huge difference as to how we respond to the challenges that are put in front of us.
So with that said, 2015 has brought a lot of good as well as some challenges, needless to say it is all about how we look at things and handle the challenges. Therefore, I am looking forward to 2016 being an awesome year.
