Saying Goodbye To A Wonky-Tonk Year 2016

Real Estate Broker/Owner with KD Realty - 408.972.1822 CA BRE#01366594

2016 was truly a wonky-tonk year for me.  I was more than ready to bid it farewell. I did not stay awake to say goodbye to 2016 however I was jumping for joy this morning as I welcomed 2017 with a resounding YES!

As I enjoyed my morning coffee I prepared my list of things to do today and tomorrow.  I sat down at my computer and was compelled to close out my 2016 files.  I could not stop myself despite the fact that doing so was not on my list of things to do today.

Several hours later, my 2016 office files are purged and my 2017 files are created.

I am as complete with my tax files as I can be at this time.  Income and expenses are all calculated and ready for my CPA appointment in March. Yes, I already scheduled that appointment on Friday. Did I mention I was ready to say goodbye to 2016?

Many things will remain the same for me in 2017. There will be some modifications and changes to how I manage my time. More focus on my passion. 2017 starts year 15 for me in the real estate business and year 6 as an independent San Jose real estate broker.  I set high goals to serve more sellers and donate more to charities this year.

ActiveRain will continue to be a part of my daily routine.  Perhaps not so much in posting to my blog as logging in to read and interact. I do plan to participate in the contests. I see two posted already and a heads-up post of another announcing that details will post on 1-6-2017.  I gave up working on my addition ... I just embrace it now. I eat up points like Pac-Man. It is all part of the addiction.

I want to thank the ActiveRain community and the tech team who work to make the platform better.  A special thank you to those who follow me and consistently comment on my posts. I do attempt to reciprocate with comments and likes. Doing so is not a religion for me. Please know that I do my very best with the time and resources I have available on any given day.

May you all enjoy your own 2017 journey. May it be filled with joy, happiness, good health, humor, love, kindness, patience, prosperity and success ... however you define it.

2016 really was a wonky tonk year.  I'm glad to see the chaos that came with it leave!  Unfortunately, some pundits predict more of the same for 2017.  But, like Dick Greenberg I'm approaching the year with as much positivity as I can muster!

Kathleen, it's so interesting getting your take on last year and this new one. Of course, one compares their own experience while reading--can't help it--2016 was my best year in real estate, I turned a "Young" 60, worked hard, played just as hard (in a monumentally great way) and I loved pretty much everything about it! Glad that you are embracing '17 in a wholeheartedly good manner. I'm still trying to come up with a general word theme, but honestly, it just seems to be a singular word: Change. Big Change, maybe. And it's good of you to be honest, thank the AR Gods and say that you can only do what you can daily to say hello to fellow Rainers. I feel the very same way.

Have a sparkly successful '17!!!

Kathleen Daniels, I was ready for 2016 to exit sometime in September, needless to say, I am beyond excited for 2017 and what is to come.
I started my taxes in October, still not done though, will be finished this weekend.
Wishing you an outstanding 2017 in every area of your life, looking forward to great things!

Kathleen Daniels - It was a "wonky" year indeed, but it was also my best year. If I can outdo 2016 in 2017, I will be a happy camper - but minus some of that "wonky-tonk" stuff

Hi Kathleen

I, too, am pleased about 2016 being over. It was a very good year in real estate but with a number of personal/health challenges...but all is pretty well. My taxes are ready to go, too! Wishing you a fabulous 2017, personally and in your business!

That's a perfect term: wonky-tonk. I've never heard that term but I love it to death and to life! :)

I ran away to the Keys for a 3 day long weekend and got some sun for the new year. I had a very busy 2016 but Battle a hurt knee all year. I am hoping for a healed knee and business to stay as busy

I could just put my name on this one too! 2016 (year of the monkey=me), it was my year and a milestone age marker so I was fired up. I had a huge financial hit in January (nice start) June emergency surgery(first time ever in a hospital), all the political sickening drama with a stressful ending. Then back issues in December. So far 2017 has been calmish let's hope for the best but still feeling very anxious.

Mike and I did see midnight and then some on New Year's Eve. We had a quiet evening at home watching the Harley Davidson story. It was a good movie, but it was probably close to five or six hours long.

Kathleen, seems you have a great start for 2017. I have most of my tax info ready for my CPA. We went to bed at 11 pm on New Year's Eve.

Missed this one Kathleen but must say that my sentiments are not dissimilar-glad to say goodbye to an awful year for the country - and I too plan to spend more time commenting than on writing only because I am really busy-a good thing!
