Debbie Reynolds contest, Ringing and Singing in the Rain is a fun contest to connect with other ActiveRain members.
The first part of this contest is to call and talk with an ActiveRain member that you have never talked with before. Well, this morning I called AR member, Debbie Laity.
I have been following Debbie for years and have enjoyed reading her blog. Debbie's real estate market in Delta County, CO., is a lot like mine in Greenbrier County, WV. Small rural areas. Our markets are small, not like the major markets in the bigger cities.
We talked about our predictions for real estate in 2017, and both agree that it will be a great year. Debbie says she is developing a campaign for FSBOs and expired listings, it is better than putting a stamp on the envelope and mailing a letter. I will leave it up to Debbie to tell you what she is doing for this market.
We also talked about her December contest. It's Time for the 2016 Version of Show Us Your Home for the Holidays. She will be finishing up her spreadsheet and sending to AR staff to award points to those that participated in the contest. I enjoy this contest as it's always good to see how other parts of the country decorate for the holidays.
We discussed our land sales that we both are working on, as well as closings on the horizon. Price changes are coming back from two years ago in Delta County she said. That's always good to hear.
Of course, we discussed market reports. Debbie does a great job on her reports for her county, subdivisions, as well as market reports for 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedroom homes for sale. Debbie says she reads a lot of AR members market reports and sees fair housing violations happening all the time. Check out Debbie's post, Describe the house...NOT who should be in the house, to ensure you are not violating fair housing.
We talked about AR members that are no longer blogging, and how Active Rain has helped us in our business. And, that we always answer our cell phones and that we both dislike it when other agents do not return calls.
Enough about real estate. We discussed her boyfriend, Mike, and how supportive he is. She feels like when she met him she won the lottery. They are planning to make some changes this year and buy a house. If you follow Debbie, you know she is an animal lover. She has found seven cats, taken them to a shelter and all have been adopted. Mike and Debbie now have three cats, as they just adopted one last month.
It was really great talking with Debbie today, and glad we made a connection. So what are you waiting for? Pick up the phone and ring an AR member now!
