2017 - A year of health, wealth, fun, and giving back
The new year snuck up on me, and though I wasn't ready for it, it came anyway (hate how time doesn't care about my schedule!). I am finishing up planning for the year, and though I'm a bit behind, a good January has me in the driver's seat even with some delay.
This year will be a huge year for me in many ways. Not because I'm hoping it will be, but because I'm going to make it be.
In business, I'm explanding to a semi-national platform --- within a month or so I'll hold 3 new licenses in Maryland, Texas, and Tennessee, which will bring the total number of states in which I can do business to 11 (CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, NJ, PA, and VA are where I already work), and until Q4, my attention will be on only those states until I add a few more west coast states later in the year. This year will involve a lot more travel to the east coast, which I look forward to A LOT. I still have many friends, family, and business partners there, and making the transition to a new company toward the end of 2015 had me here in CA for most of last year.
In the realm of 'health', I'm healthy now for the first time in months. 2016 was a year of injuries, from a torn hamstring, to a badly sprained wrist (3 times re-sprained), to a nagging shoulder/back injury, I kept in semi-ok shape, but nowhere near where I want to be. This year I'm on board for a progressive race series so it's back to trailrunning, and I've started playing basketball again in addition to the normal weights and hockey that I participate in regularly. 2017 will also see another hike up Mt Whitney. I'm 32, and by the time I'm 33 in October, I plan on being back in the best shape of my life (which is where I was pre-injury).
Fun and giving back? A lot of times, they intertwine. I'm fortunate enough to be a part of Orange County Big Brother/Big Sister, and was just matched in December to a little -- so we'll have a ton of fun throughout the year on hikes, at sporting events, and exploring Orange County a little better. My little also loves hockey, so while he doesn't know it yet, we'll be going to several Ducks games, and I'll be hooking him up with a full set of gear so he can begin playing more often on his own. I'll also continue to be extremely active in my meetup group (Socal 20s and 30s Transplants), contribute to the OC Rescue Mission, and hopefully find another cause or 2 to help with, too.
So here's to 2017 - lots of work, lots of play, hopefully some growth, and more than anything else, a whole lot of livin'
Hope your 2017 is your best year yet as well
