Why Should Anyone Participate Anyway?

 

Simple answer: to enhance Blogging Skills & Grow Business.

 

The first few years - 2012, 2013, 2014 - were 30 posts in 30 days. Kerrie LaGuardia set the frequency requirement. At that time - getting people to post regularly was still a factor.

For the past few years, participants seem to be members who are already Blogging consistently. They are people who have seen their businesses grow from their Blogging efforts.

The Challenge requires visuals for every post. Each year, included in the instructions, are extensive links to sites that offer easy AND MOSTLY FREE ways to make graphs, charts, infographics, to edit photos and obtain icons.

Already an experienced Blogger? This is your opportunity to refine skills --- you already know how to put in a photo but do you know how to space it so the words aren't jammed up against the photo? How good are you at adding links? Take this chance to work on polishing the technical aspects of your posts.

What about the (in)famous MARKET REPORT? Are those easy and comfortable for you? Do you know how to prepare and add charts or graphs of Market data to attract readers? When I do Market Reports - which I should do more often - they create HIGH traffic stats!!

 

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
There is the question of why I add the extra work of Moderating this Challenge to my schedule each year?

 

My strong concern is how our community may maintain the Founders' Vision of the CHARACTER of ActiveRain. As the number of members continues to soar, does each new member take the time to learn about ActiveRain's foundation?  For example, do new members understand that copyrights are to be taken seriously? Do they know about attribution?

IMHO, keeping the Founders' VALUES and ETHICS for the ActiveRain community up front in the consciousness of all members is critical.

That's why the Weltanschauung or world-view and the Community Guidelines on which the Founders based the community are included in the Challenge every year. Best if we all know what philosophy supports the ActiveRain community. Keep it strong and we all benefit.

I love ActiveRain - I learn here, I grow my business here, I make amazing friends here and I am proud to donate these many hours of my time towards keeping the community strong.
