It's All OK Now - Next Stop, Wedding
This beautiful girl will be my newest daughter-in-law this summer. Actually, she already is because she and my daughter are registered as domestic partners.
But in July, we're having the formal ceremony and epic reception!
But the last couple months have been tough. A routine PAP Smear found evidence of cervical cancer. Less than a month later we were in the hospital coffee shop waiting to see her after a hysterectomy on December 12th.
She was 33 years old!
It was the result of the HPV virus and very scary.
She came home and seemed to be enjoying the holidays, but on Christmas she started feeling ill. At first we thought it was the flu, but an early morning text asking me to come help her on the 27th made it clear something was wrong.
The girls live in San Diego which is a little over an hour away. By the time I got there it seemed best to go to the ER. She was admitted with a severe infection and spent the next 5 days recovering in the hospital. Fortunately, she was at Sharp Hospital and her room was private with a nice fold out sofa for my daughter to stay. But not where she wanted to spend New Year's Eve.
Yesterday, she had a post-op check up and all is well. The results of the biopsy taken during surgery shows they caught it very early and as of now she is cancer-free. It seems that most of the cancer was gathered in the area originally tested and so it seemed far more advanced than it turned out to be.
We are incredibly grateful!
Now....onto the party, the huge....over-the-top party. Tasting next week!
Finally, nothing but joy on the horizon!
