The title comes directly from the Community Guidelines, and it really describes ActiveRain very well. After all where else can you get almost 300,000 people to gather and have them play well together.
Something went right with this site from the moment it started. I wasn't around for that. I don't know what caused the camaraderie that has made ActiveRain the place for those in real estate, and related professions, to want to spend their spare time.
I don't think it's all about the points. That's because the points appeal to our competitive side and you would think that would spark name calling and bad feelings. (That kind of behavior is against the community guidelines) I know in some cases it has, but that's rare.
New members are welcomed into the community and encouraged to write posts and given the resources they need to move forward and develop an interesting and rewarding blog. ActiveRain staff even provides webinars to help with training and learning how to get your posts to rank high in the search engines.
Members that have been around a while also benefit by learning from the webinars and other members. I pick up so much information in my daily AR reading.
Challenges like this one also help to keep the rules and guiding philosophy of AR in the forefront of everyone's mind.
ActiveRain is truly a community, and the relationships don't end online. I have visited members, and I also talk with many members on a fairly regular basis. You all know who you are and thank you very much for your friendship.
Whatever chemical reaction happened to make this site come together the way it has, should be bottled and sold. ActiveRain is a supportive community with a lot to offer. I think both the staff AND members deserve a big THANK YOU for working to keep this site a friendly and welcoming place.
This is an entry into Lynn B. Friedman's 2017 Blog JUMPSTART Challenge.
