Thank you Lynn Friedman,

for Getting Me Back on the Blog!

Every once in a while, our blogging gets interrupted by some of Life's Adventures. You may have noticed my blogs have been few and far between for a while. With all the birthdays in our family in November, Holidays in both November and December, much of my blogging time was interrupted.

As most of you know, I dabble in art, on occasion. (Lol)  Seriously though, I had someone approach me in September, when I was in the middle of painting the Elkhart Train depot for the Midwest Museum o American Art exhibition that ran from September to December.  He wanted me to paint a Christmas present for his wife, who works at the Morris Performing Arts Center, in South Bend.  Her favorite play is "Wicked" which played there in September, 2016.  During the advertising, they dyed the fountain green, so he wanted a painting of the theatre with her favorite play on the marquee and the green fountain. Since his daughter was married at the Morris this past year, he wanted that shown, along with something for his son, who was in the Marines and his daughter, who was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. In addition, he wanted his wife in the painting, walking toward the building.

During all this time, I was torn away from Active Rain and my regular amount of blogging, so when Lynn B. Friedman announced her January Challenge, it was just what I needed to renew my interest and drive to get back into my usual blogging habit.

I'm glad Active Rain, thanks to Debbie Reynolds, who was instrumental in bringing back this valuable part of our family environment.  I was able to finish the painting just before Christmas and was also able to sell and close a sale on a home before the end of the year.

Now to share this time with you, here is a photo of the Theatre and of the finished painting.

Thank you Lynn for helping me get back on track!

This will be the first blog for her contest challenge!

You are such a talented artist. I bet you could get all kinds of business if you offered to do a miniature of the house with each sale. I am not sure if that would pass the incentive test with the state because of how valuable that would be dollarwise. You did a great job on this one. Offers will continue.

The number of hours it takes to paint a picture would prevent him practicing real estate. We have thought the same thing, it would certainly make us stand out to offer something like this, but our business would be cut in half because of it.

Larry you are truly a talented painter and this last one is a doozy. I'm envious since I can't draw a stick figure well.

Endre Barath, Jr. Thanks for your comment. It may be a while before getting to the book, as we have a few projects to take care of first, like our proposed Real Estate School and obtaining our teaching credentials.

The People You Know, Like and Trust!

I should have recorded Jim's face (the husband who ordered the painting) when he first saw the painting...he cried.  For about 30 minutes. He said he knew what he was looking for, and tried to explain it to Larry.  BUT the actual painting, and Larry's interpretation of what he wants was soooo much more. It was so much better than he hoped for or imagined it would be.  Then he took it home and presented to his wife.  She cried too...
