Thank you Lynn Friedman,
for Getting Me Back on the Blog!
Every once in a while, our blogging gets interrupted by some of Life's Adventures. You may have noticed my blogs have been few and far between for a while. With all the birthdays in our family in November, Holidays in both November and December, much of my blogging time was interrupted.
As most of you know, I dabble in art, on occasion. (Lol) Seriously though, I had someone approach me in September, when I was in the middle of painting the Elkhart Train depot for the Midwest Museum o American Art exhibition that ran from September to December. He wanted me to paint a Christmas present for his wife, who works at the Morris Performing Arts Center, in South Bend. Her favorite play is "Wicked" which played there in September, 2016. During the advertising, they dyed the fountain green, so he wanted a painting of the theatre with her favorite play on the marquee and the green fountain. Since his daughter was married at the Morris this past year, he wanted that shown, along with something for his son, who was in the Marines and his daughter, who was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. In addition, he wanted his wife in the painting, walking toward the building.
During all this time, I was torn away from Active Rain and my regular amount of blogging, so when Lynn B. Friedman announced her January Challenge, it was just what I needed to renew my interest and drive to get back into my usual blogging habit.
I'm glad Active Rain, thanks to Debbie Reynolds, who was instrumental in bringing back this valuable part of our family environment. I was able to finish the painting just before Christmas and was also able to sell and close a sale on a home before the end of the year.
Now to share this time with you, here is a photo of the Theatre and of the finished painting.
Thank you Lynn for helping me get back on track!
This will be the first blog for her contest challenge!
