Long ago and far away (or at least five years ago), I was a partner in a brokerage in my hometown. Easy Peasy. Like shooting fish in a barrel. If someone walked through the door, they were looking for a house and generally knew my built-in reputation. My Daddy's a deacon in the Baptist Church. My Mother owns the flower shop. You can't swing a cat in Logan, New Mexico, without hitting someone I'm kin to.
So the idea of affirmations never occurred to me. I didn't need to generate a lot of business. It came to me. And after ten years, I knew the cycles. Over that decade, I sold several houses three or four times.
In other words, I didn't need to think too hard about believing in prosperity. I knew how much I was going to make on an annual basis (not a lot, but it was very relaxing) and people knew me.
I came to Keller Williams Santa Fe several years ago, a New Mexico native who knew nothing about making a name for myself in the City Different. I realized in a hurry that I needed a strategy to set myself apart from other brokers.
I paid for extra video ads. Sponsored multiple events. Showed up to EVERYTHING. Donated. Volunteered. Advertised, advertised, advertised. That's me on the left at one of the many charity events I worked last year.
But you know what I think is one of the most powerful tools I used and still use today? Despite my misgivings, I used affirmations every day because my Productivity Coach told me to. She didn't ask. She demanded. And because I wanted to be a success in the same manner she was, I followed her directive.
My affirmation is simple: "Thank you for the perfect clients I'm going to meet and get to help today."
Guess what? It works. God or the universe or wherever you put your trust gives me perfect clients every single day. If they're not perfect, they somehow find their way to someone else. Or because I believe I only get perfect clients, they seem perfect to me.
I can't tell you which one is true. I can only tell you that I am grateful to God every single day for the people I get to meet and help, and who in turn make my business a great success.
Want perfect clients? Believe they're headed your way. That's my affirmation.
And now I have to get out there and meet the new ones for this Tuesday. I'd love to hear your affirmations and how they've worked for you.
