I've always been that person who wanted to work with people. When deciding upon my college major, it was the one that put me in front of people that was chosen over the one that would isolate me. Nearly 20 years in healthcare connected me with loads of people and when the time came for a career change, the fuel of working with people remained my desired energy.
Real Estate is about relationships. Well... that's the way I choose to approach it anyway (others do it a bit differently). Potential clients, buyers, sellers, lenders, attorneys, paralegals, inspectors, appraisers, family members of clients, neighbors of listings, executive assistants, office staff, the sign guy, etc.... Real Estate involves SO MANY people! They ALL play a vital role and that is not lost on me. I've seen transactions fall apart because of poor people skills, egos bigger than the focus on a client's goal, bad/no communication, etc. That doesn't set well with me!
I'm blessed to have some great relationships with the clients & professionals I collaborate with! Getting a referral from anyone is proof positive that I must be doing something right. What really fuels me for another day in this often-demanding business though? My favorite collection: THANK YOU notes! I don't expect them. After all, I'm providing a service for something I was hired to do. When I do receive them though, they are treasured... and kept! I add them to my motivation board and on those days where the challenges seem insurmountable (let's face it, we all have them!), I'm reminded of the role I play in some very significant life events for some pretty awesome people. :)
