Burke is a delightful place to live! The village of Burke started life as home to an 1850's train depot and has a rich history with an active historical society. Burke is only 15 miles SW of Washington DC. With bus service and VRE train service widely available. It's wonderful to live close to DC. Burke is located in Fairfax County and has top rated schools! Our school district would include Cherry Run Elementary and Lake Braddock Secondary School. Both of my children attended these schools and I can't say enough about the opportunities they offered.
There are many restaurants in Burke that we enjoy! Rafagino serves fabulous Italian food! Close by is Glory Days, Spartans and Panisa Thai. All are good choices for a stress free evening. In our spare time we enjoy plays at the Kennedy Center as well as plays on the Washington Nationals ball field. One of Fairfax County’s best public parks is a short drive away. Burke Lake Park offers a 5 mile trail around the lake, a marina, golf and mini golf, train rides and a carousel for the kids!
Even though my home is not located in the planned community of Burke Centre, it's fairly new at 15 years young and close enough to join the Burke Centre pools, which enables us to enjoy any of the 5 community pools and one is within walking distance. My husband and I bought this home because we wanted to stay in Burke and our school district but wanted to upgrade to a larger home. The neighborhood is small at 49 homes, so you really get to know your neighbors, and I have to say, we have fabulous friends as neighbors.
The house has a bump out in the back that is perfect as a sun room! I can read the paper out there while watching the bird feeders in the fenced back yard. I also love that the lower level which has the perfect place for a family pool table. We made a lot of family memories there and I hope another family will enjoy it as much as we have!
