Most of us in the real estate profession have a website. And if you don't, you should. But how optimized are your websites? Can visitors easily find you, or are your competitors the ones they are pointed to when searching for a particular keyword?
For example, if you are trying to target " homes for sale in Punta Gorda Florida", then you need to be sure that the right keywords are being used within your site, in order for the search engine robots to do their job and find you. If they can't find you using the search terms you are targeting, then no one can find you.
Many people put an incredible amount of time, effort and money into building what they feel is the perfect website. The day of the launch arrives and then...nothing. Hey! I thought if I built it, they would come?? Nope. Chances are very slim that they will, if you haven't optimized your site.
So when you are writing the content for your site, keep your keywords in mind. Do you offer a specialized niche, such as "short sale specialist", or "golf course homes" or "first time home buyer specialist"? Be sure to use these terms in your content. And go beyond the obvious, most popular keywords, by adding specialized niche keywords. Give some thought to exactly what your service is providing, what your customers or clients need or want, and how they might reach you, and those are the terms you want to use.
I have discovered a great tool, which I use when I am blogging or building websites to determine what keywords I should use.
Wordtracker helps website owners identify keywords and phrases that are relevant to their business and most likely to be used as queries by search engine visitors.
You can also determine how many competing sites are using those keywords and can identify the phrases that have the greatest traffic potential.
WordTracker offers a free trial, so it doesn't cost a thing to try it out. It's a really cool and valuable tool.
