Maryland Kids Doing Amazing Things-Hampstead, MD
Meet Makenzie-Makenzie had a vision to help those in need in her community by opening a Little Pantry. She got some help and her vision has become a reality.
This is the Little Pantry
It is a cabinet on the side of the prayer chapel at:
St. John's United Methodist Church
1205 Main St in Hampstead, MD
It's across from M&T Bank and the Shell Station.
Wondering what a Little Pantry is?
Check this out!
Neighbors donate food to the pantry just by dropping it off either by putting it directly in the pantry or leaving it in the prayer chapel. Neighbors who have an immediate need can take the items they need. The only request is that they sign in so they know how many folks are actually being served.
I have heard of the Little Free Library, but this is the first I have heard about a Little Free Pantry, so I googled it and this is what I found:
Applying a familiar concept to address food insecurity.
The Little Free Pantry is a grassroots, crowd-sourced solution to immediate and local need. Whether a need for food or a need to give, the Little Free Pantry facilitates neighbors helping neighbors, building community.
