Flying Ant vs Termite do you know the difference?

By

So I show up to the front door to speak to tenants of new home my client has just purchased, when I am greeted by this on the front door at the peep hole....ants

Say what you want, but instant panic set in.  OMG termites???!!  My clients just closed on this house yesterday.  I'm sick.

So after staring at them for what seems like a year, and watching the "guy bugs" sitting around watching "2 queens battle it out like they are in a wet t shirt contest"  --- (tell me they don't look like they are taking bets? LOL) my brain finally kicks into gear and I pull out my phone to snap the picture an immediately send it to my favorite termite guy.  Don't laugh, you've got one too.

So while I'm waiting for him to respond I visit Google right...

Now I really don't have that warm fuzzy feeling.  Because they aren't posing like the termite and ant models in the picture for me and So the termite guy couldn't tell from his tiny flip phone, but since I did take a good close up, I had to send it to his computer.  And a few hours later I could breathe a sigh of releif.  I felt like that guy on television... "I'm just a monitor" I can identify a potential problem, but I'm not the WDO person.  And while it may not be termites, it may be indicative of a different potential problem.

But that kind of experience is truly one of the benefits of working with a seasoned Realtor.  To be able to identify potential problems & pitfalls and to know where to turn for guidance.  Termites cause millions of dollars worth of damage every year to home across the United States.  And that is just one of a myriad of things that we are looking for during the home buying process.
