Many years ago when ActiveRain was in the developmental stages, the founders had a vision for this community. This vision includes 10 positive philosophies and you can read them here. Collectively this vision and the mission statements are called Weltanschauung.
There are several statements that stand out to me, but I decided to focus on this one:

ActiveRain believes that it is in the best interests of real estate professionals to build a community that is focused on educating one another. ActiveRain believes its future depends on members of all experience levels openly sharing their experiences and best practices with others in the field. This communal dialogue offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and is the way to share in the dynamism and excitement that constitutes the modern real estate business.
ActiveRain is truly a place where members of all experience levels can share and learn. I learn something new each day on AR. It might be a tidbit that will help me deal with a certain client, or something to enhance my marketing or who knows what else. I've even saved, and made, some great recipes that have been shared.
Other members also believe that working together is in everyone's best interest. By working together and supporting each other, we've made this community strong and vibrant.
That feeling of community keeps me coming back. I now have online friends throughout this country, and a comfortable online place to hang out, share and learn.
Weltanschauung is a word I'd never heard of until I joined ActiveRain. If it weren't for Lynn B. Friedman's annual Blog JUMPSTART Challenge, I probably would have gone on a lot longer not knowing this word and it's meaning. Maybe after a few more years of participating in this challenge, I will finally remember how to spell it.
