In my opinion, incorporating texture effectively is best left to the professionals-professional interior designers, professional builders and professional stagers.

This is design at a more sophisticated level than most home sellers and real estate agents are experienced with.

When preparing a home for sale, simplest is best. Looking to use texture? Be sure to consult a pro. When in doubt, leave it out.

How to Use Texture in Your Home DesignHow To Use Texture in Your Home Design for Gorgeous Results

Using texture in your interior design scheme is tricky. However, if you get just the right mix, your beautiful Fort Mill house for sale will impress all of your guests and potential buyers! With some simple rules and guidelines, you can incorporate texture to make a space pop. Read on to learn how to use texture in your home design to create a truly unique, but classy look.

Don’t Overdo It

Rule number one in designing with texture is to use it in moderation! In a single interior, you should never use more than three different textures. Too many will quickly overwhelm the space and leave the occupant with an uneasy feeling.

For example, at most you can choose one textured wall, shaggy carpet and patterned ceiling. This is the maximum for a home for sale in Fort Mill. Additionally, remember to take the specific space into account. Even three textures can overwhelm some spaces.

Distribute Evenly

When adding texture, you want to leave neutral spaces between them. For example, avoid plastering textures together, one after another. You need blank spaces so that the eye can breath as it takes in a room.

If you have a clump of textures in just one part of the room it will leave the interior looking weird and off balance.

Avoid the Same Pattern

When choosing texture, try not to use the same pattern over and over. If you walk into the room and feel slightly dizzy or sea sick, you probably used too much of the same. And too much of a good thing equates to poor results in a Fort Mill home for sale!

Opposites Attract

In many areas of life, opposites attract!  The same goes for texture. Generally, if you combine two very distinct textures, you reap amazing results. For example, having one brick wall with the rest being neutral exudes a classic vibe.

I agree with the gist of the article but I am not a fan of sloppy brick mortar!

Nathan I agree with you, although I've seen it in too many houses.
