How to Know When to Downsize Your House

How to Know When Downsizing is Right

One of the questions homeowners often ask themselves is when is the right time for me to downsize my house. There is no right or wrong answer. There are, however, some telltale signs of when downsizing could be in your best interests both from a financial and day to day living standpoint.

In the Sildeshare below you will see an article on when to downsize your home. The article gives you a good understanding of some of the more popular reasons people decide that keeping their large home doesn't make sense anymore.

When you know your time has come for making your life more manageable it often hits you in the face. Along with when to know moving from a larger to a smaller space, see some of the best tips of accomplishing your goals of downsizing.

By the way, you might be reading and be wondering how this article was shared here in this manner. It is very easy! I took the article on when to downsize your house from my website and turned it into a slideshare. This is a great way of re-purposing your content so a different audience can view it. There are people who visit Slideshare all the time. This is now another source of traffic from a different medium.
Are you the type of person who likes looking at quick videos? Have a look at the Dailymotion video below where I turned my blog post about downsizing a house into a short video. This is yet another way of re-purposing your content into another form that people may enjoy.
You will notice that in the description of the video there is a link back to the original article so those looking at it can get the full details!

There you have it - two great ways to showcase your content in different forms. If you did this to a significant amount of your articles, how much additional traffic do you think it would bring?

This is a good article. I'm not excited about the day our kids leave home (at least 10 years away) but I am looking forward to the day I can downsize and minimalize my life.

I wrote a pamphlet about downsizing about ten years ago but never considered the angle of when to downsize.  Great info - both about downsizing and how to present slideshares and videos.

Great info for those thinking about when to downsize.  I know I've had customers trying to figure out "when" is the right time.  Some of them come to me when they expect to do that 2-3 years from now as it makes it easier for them to deal with some of decluttering and maintenance items that they've put off for 10 yrs.

Great advice to help us all expand our horizons and repurpose.  Right now, I've been trying to expand presence on Pinterest and gradually redoing picts to make vertical.  I recently did 3 that are 800x2400 as I learned from one of my competitors (who has now become a friend) that this was working even better than the standard vertical.  BTW, I'm now up to 7,700 clicks/month.  I'm still hoping to get much higher.  A few of the decorating groups are helping the most.  I wish I had done more groups sooner as some of the big decorating ones are closed.  Oh well.  Onward and upward.

Bill, I'm amazed at how many of my 60+ clients are continuing to "up-size" when many starting to downsize. It's about 50-50 in my market. Thanks for the great information.

Bill - As I get older myself, and one child is gone, and the other is about to leave, I do see us downsizing. If you would have asked me that question just a couple of years ago I would have said no way, but things change. Great post.

Downsizing is always a question of timing for our clients as well. The decision is often lifestyle driven be it that they move to a smaller, lower maintenance home/condo..typically further east/closer to the beach or based on their love of recreational activities like golf or tennis.
