Occasional Local Event

Official 2017 Blog JUMPSTART Challenge - Enhance YOUR Personal Best

This entry is for the AR Contest on the topic of Occasional Local Event. It was created to honor the people in the Real Estate Industry who work so hard every single day of their life. Most people understand the concept of Sunday being a Day of Rest but rarely, if ever, have the time to make it a complete day of rest. These kitties seen during a showing reminded me how important it is for everyone to honor their bodies and get more than just an occasional day of rest.

Day of Rest

People need rest. No creature on earth is superhuman. Sleep is about the only time a Real Estate Agent can stop, breathe, and rest. But there's so much to do and many do not take full advantage of proper sleep. Occasionally, an agent sleeps and while they sleep they are receiving Text Messages, Emails, VoiceMails, and even they themselves wake up suddenly because they are reminded there is something that they must do and it simply can't wait until morning.

You can't keep keeping on without enough sleep. The fact is people are not only active they are proactive in achieving goals. If an Agent doesn't make the client happy, they know they can be replaced. When people say, we're not in any real hurry, it doesn't mean it's okay to take your time, Buyers & Sellers ARE in a hurry. There are chilling tales of accidents, disease, Alzheimer, Dementia, cancer, and sickness. No living person is exempt. We all need proper rest. Today is Sunday, how will you use your time?

Actually, today is a slow day for me, work wise, and I intend to totally enjoy! I'm heading off to the archery range this afternoon to practice my target skills. I also have a bunch of home/family things planned.

Have a great day!

Hi Patricia... I will be working. But to that theme... one thing I tell all serious prospects and clients up-front is that I am not available and do not work 24/7 and that there is no need to in our profession.

Good morning Patricia Feager,

I'm going to do some real estate but am right now tracking my daughter-in-law on an app as she is running the Houston Marathon! I'm working on a CMA for a past buyer of mine on their home and plan to go to brunch with my Geno and then check out some new subdivisions for a buyer coming in 2 weeks from now. Happy Sunday to you!

Good reminder Patricia Feager that it is crucial to take time to unwind and relax.  I once had an agent say 'We're not neurosurgeons...It can usually wait until morning" - Hope you have a peaceful Sunday!

Patricia, I know that taking care of myself, eating well, getting good sleep, and managing stress ... is my job.  No one else can or will do this for me. When I am well ... I can best take care of my clients.

Patricia, preachin' to the choir, missy! I love your point, and well taken. Actually have taken a beautiful long walk with my hubby and our two Goldens in stunning snowy trails today with filtered sun shining through. Some hadn't seen any human footprints at all! Then, I took care of the "girls", my mule and horse by taking their turnouts off and brushing them, then giving them treats and parking them outside while I cleaned their stalls and got rid of the dung. It's a gorgeous day and have spent most of it outside. Getting ready to make banana bread for my husband. I have answered e-mail inquiries, set appointments, come up with blogging post ideas and well...makin' it a full day! (However, I DID wake up at 4:30 this morning and was awake for a couple of hours with lots of stream-of-consciousness stuff running through my head, darn it).

Hope your  Sunday is delirioiusly happy and I love that this photo spurned such a post!

I was trying to take it easy, but now you have me convinced I need to be doing something more productive.  At least I got the household chores done already.

Hi Patricia -- I find there is always "something to do" but if we don't take time to reflect, relax and renew ---- the results of our efforts will suffer.
