Almost Speechless Sunday - Diamond Head State Monument Honolulu Hawaii
During our recent New Year's trip we hiked up Diamond Head State Monument. The hike is not that long in terms of distance but certainly is very challenging one. There are steep stairs and uneven steep trails along the route. The views on top and along the way of the Pacific Ocean and Honolulu are phenomenal. There is one tunnel which is pitch black. You are huffing and puffing for breath when you reach this tunnel and the darkness is scary. I had a young women bang right into me. The impact knocked her back and but did not move me but it was unnerving.
If we ever get the opportunity to return we will be much better prepared for this hike and have a flashlight with us.
There is a crater and an old bunker on the top. Yolanda said and she is correct there is no way I could made this climb up and down if I had not been following my exercise routine. Stretching and Yoga poses assisted with being able to easily get on out of the narrow bunker. Numerous folks a lot younger than me struggled with either or both of getting in and out.
