What Is The MLS?

Are you looking for a Home or Condo For Sale on Long Island?  In our local market and across the country, buyers and sellers look at online at MLS listings every day.


So what exactly is the MLS? 

MLS stands for Multiple Listing Service. The MLS is a service Brokers use to publish their active property listings so potential buyers and other real estate agents can search for them. It's the database of properties for sale in by cooperating Real Estate Brokers, and is a convenient way to know what is for sale of homes, condos, and land inventory.  Brokers cooperate in the sale, in exchange for compensation if they bring the buyer. It's an information exchange between professionals. Each regional MLS has its own listings, and agents pay dues to access and post homes on each one.


How Do Realtors Lawrence & Sheila Agranoff use the MLS?


We belong to a system called broker reciprocity. By participating in broker reciprocity, we can display on our websites and blogs, the details of other brokers’ active listings, including home prices, property details and photos, but only if the listing agent supplies this information. Buyers and sellers can work with the professional of their choice, knowing that they have access to properties for sale in the marketplace. Anything that the listing agent entered about a house can be searched, and then your criteria can be narrowed to the homes that best fit your needs. It's probably the quickest way to find homes for sale.
