Lynn Friedman Broker/Owner with Atlanta Homes ODAT Realty created a January Challenge for all of us to get a Blogging jump start for the year 2017. This January Challenge has been repeated now for several years. Thank you Lynn for your hard work of putting this together each year. As a side note this is not a re-blog of the Challenge.
One of the items we have to cover as part of the challenge is the ActiveRain Community Guidelines. All of us need to certainly read or reread these Community Guidelines at least once a year and as part of the Challenge we have to discuss in a post those that we think maintains the culture and contributes to the success and of the ActiveRain Community.
The entire document of ActiveRain Community Guidelines is very important for all of us to read, understand and to follow. I think “Respect for the ActiveRain Community” contributes in a huge way towards the past and future success of this great online community.
There are many individual points under the Respect Community section of the guidelines which are extremely important to me and to all who participate. The first I will mention is “ Do not take malicious action against the community”. We all have to respect ourselves as well this this wonderful community. If there is something any person has a serious issue with connected to ActiveRain then they should gracefully bow out or walk away if they cannot rise above the issue. In any event writing inflammatory or insulting or nasty posts this community should never happen.
One way to quell an issue is to call Bob Stewart directly and discuss your individual concerns and issues. My suggestion is if someone has a major concern and not over petty stuff call Bob as I know he is very busy. None of us should even consider going on this community or any other Social Media platform and bad mouth ActiveRain and or any of its members. The key is one has to show Respect to earn Respect back in my humble opinion. This is a wonderful Community for so many reasons which are way too long to list. Yolanda and I have developed so many friends and or industry information sources based on our belonging to this virtual community.
The Second point is a simple “Do not slander another person “ along with “Do not personally attack another person”. These two sub points to the respect guideline I believe go hand in hand with one another and are impossible separate. My Mom always told me if you can say something good in public about someone do not say anything and keep your mouth shut! Slander another individual could end with someone facing a serious lawsuit but still there are folks who do not care or have zero common sense. We all have to Respect this community and not attack any person, firm, group, organization or whoever participates. If you do not really like what was said by another person and cannot conduct yourself as a professional manner then just walk away and do nothing. Attacks are out of the question and certainly do not Slander anyone. These type of actions are embarrassing to the whole community let alone to the the offender.
All of these above points in the guidelines along with all the rest of these important guidelines maintains the superb culture and contributes to the overall success of this Community now and hopefully far into the future.
