Raining With Thunder | Make Clients Notice | Need to be a Rainmaker

Many of us have the “Rainmaker” status on ActiveRain.  Have you thought about the meaning of the word “Rainmaker?”

A Rainmaker is a person who makes things happen.  He/she is an achiever.  How many of you are Rainmakers?  If you're a team leader, are you responsible for making the phone ring and providing business for your team members?  Are you the Rainmaker for your team members?  That's a huge responsibility!! I’ve been doing that for over 10 years.

If you are not on a team, you are your own Rainmaker.  If you stop marketing, the phone stops ringing, and you're out of business.  Not every individual agent is a Rainmaker.  One needs to be committed to marketing, in order to make the phone ring.  That's a big commitment of time and money.

Not all agents can make that commitment.  Those are the agents who are candidates for joining a team or working in a conventional office where the office is responsible for making the phone ring.  The split is larger for the office, but the responsibility to market does not exist for that agent.

When capable agents leave a RE/MAX or a Keller Williams, it's because they do NOT market for business, and the phones have stopped ringing for them.  Not every real estate agent is or wants to be a top producer.  Everyone wants to participate but on a variety of different levels.

We all need to make that commitment to either market or find the right real estate office that will provide marketing for us.  ActiveRain makes life simple for all of us.  Google loves ActiveRain.  My free market analysis posts are most important to my team and our listing inventory.  Those posts are consistently on the first page of a Google search for a variety of keyword phrases searching for listings in my town.

Rainmaker status is a MUST on ActiveRain to make the phone ring.  Rainmaker status within an office and/or team relies on an agent’s successful marketing ability.  On ActiveRain, it’s a no-brainer. Pay the fee!!  Within your office, learn to market and/or become an ActiveRain Rainmaker, and they’ll give you the guidance you need.

Just another thought for the moment….

Long ago, I had the desire to be a rainmaker, but something happened in my life and changed my enthusiam.  I am now content to make it sprinkle, perhaps even drizzle a bit, haha.

Barbara, the education ALONE is worth it...as it's ongoing and often free. Not to mention the feeling that you are not alone in your work, there are others who share your successes and your "lessons" in this wonderfully exciting career.

Although I am a Rainmaker here on AR...not so much in my business. That's the least favorite part of the job for me!

Hello Barbara, I did look up the definition for Rainmaker when starting AR.  I liked the sound and the meaning.  It does spur me on from time to time when a little something extra is needed.  M

Ginny Gorman I think that's great...."the eye buys" and that's all you need to say when you're showing samples of your aerial photography....you should splatter that everywhere including your direct mail piece....ONE AERIAL PHOTO and one phrase "the eye buys".... and offer a Free Market Analysis....you'll need to hire someone to sit with your phone and make listing appointments for you!!!!!

It's easy to blame the Brokerage....the market and everyone but yourself in taking responsibility for the "health and well being" of an agent's business...experienced agents who love what they do and show it by doing it well, reap the benefits ...she said to the choir.
