I 94 closing this weekend in Maple Grove, avoid area at all costs.
MNDOT report reposted here.
Weekend I-94 road closure details
Third times the charm… with the promise of good weather this weekend, we plan to demolish the 101st Ave. bridge over I-94 in Maple Grove this weekend. We’ll close both directions of I-94 to through traffic between I-494 and Hwy 610 this weekend. And although westbound local traffic will still be able to reach Maple Grove Pkwy, through traffic is being encouraged to use the signed detour.
You may encounter lane restrictions beginning around 8 p.m. Fri, Jan. 20 so demolition crews can move equipment into the area and then I-94 will close in each direction at 10 p.m. and remain closed until 5 a.m. Mon, Jan. 23.
If you are traveling on I-94 in the western Twin Cities Metro area you should follow the detours to reach your destination:
- Westbound I-94 Detour: north on Hwy 169 and then west on new Hwy 610
- Eastbound I-94 Detour: east on new Hwy 610 and then south on Hwy 169
Note: Local traffic on westbound I-94 will be able to exit at I-494, Hemlock Ln (Co Rd 61), Weaver Lake Rd and Maple Grove Pkwy, however you will not be able to travel from Maple Grove Pkwy to westbound I-94. We’d like to encourage you to use the signed detour to avoid congestion and possible delays on the interstate west of I-494.
More about this project
The 101st Ave. bridge is being removed because the new alignment of Hwy 610 follows the previous alignment of 101st Ave.
