On August 1st, 2011, I pulled the list of expired listings as I do each month. After sorting through the list and making sure that they hadn't re-listed, I made a list of expired listings to go visit. I knocked on many doors, but few people were home. If there was no answer (or they pretended not to be home) I simply left a postcard with a hand-written note in the door and went on my way.
That day I knocked on the door of a cute colonial and the owner was very nice, and we spoke for several minutes. They had decided to wait to sell until prices began to improve. So, I added them to our newsletter mailing list and every other month they get our newsletter in the mail.
Fast forward to this past Sunday... I get a phone call from the owner of that cute colonial and it turns our that they are now ready to sell. They remembered when I knocked on the door, but seeing my face in the newsletter every other month helped to keep us in the front of their minds. So, this past Tuesday I met with the sellers and we had a GREAT meeting. In our discussions, I found out that they had plans to meet with 2 other REALTORs. But after our meeting, they decided to cancel the appointments with the other agents and they signed all the listing documents to list their home with us.
The home will be on the market next week and we are confident that we will be able to get it SOLD so that they can move to Florida to enjoy their retirement.
