The Houston Zoo a great way to spend a day

The Houston Zoo has really grown and improved since my coming to live here in the 80's. I was disappointed at the time I thought the San Antonio Zoo was much better.

The Houton Zoo is located in Hermann Park in the Musuem District of Houston. It is over 55 acres, it has close to 1,000 species and has over 6,000 animals.

We celebrated my oldest son Peter's 1st birthday at the Houston Zoo, we used to go to the Zoo quite often when they were little it was our escape. We used to go on Saturday afternoon's then go to church and out to eat, then head home to watch a movie. The zoo brings back many special memories for me and the boys. As I think it does for many folks.

The Houston Zoo is involved in many conservation programs that help endagered species and their habitats.

The Zoo is the 10th most popular Zoo in the United States. It has many activites for all ages and has really expanded into quite the place. For more information please visit their website at www.houstonzoo.org.

Here are some pictures that I took when we went to the Zoo Lights one of the many events the Zoo does. So go to your local zoo and create memories.

We used to go to the Houston zoo when we visited our aunt and uncle when I was a child. We just loved it! I am sure it has changed a lot and gotten much, much better since then, but at that time we thought it was really great!

Pretty cool and I always like visiting the zoo, although I don't go very often at all.  We have Zoolights at the Phoenix zoo too, I have enjoyed checking it out as well.
