The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk CT is a fun and educational adventure into the underwater world of Long Island Sound. Unlike most aquariums, The Maritime Aquarium focuses primarily on one body of water...Long Island Sound. Aquarium hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily; closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
The nationally recognized aquarium features sharks, seals, river otters, sea turtles, jellies and 125 other species from Long Island Sound and its watershed, as well as maritime exhibits, educational programs, a boat-building shop and Connecticut's only IMAX movie theater.
The museum offers large aquariom viewing and also provides an interactive experience for it's visitors.
Visitors can pick a species of fish off a computer screen and color it as they please and then watch as it swims on the large screen in front of them. During a recent visit, my grandson, Raphael colored a shark and set it in motion, calling it Papa Ed for it's identification.
