"Dan Storm flees Missouri law to face a fiercer destiny in the Rocky Mountains."
I've always enjoyed novels about pioneer life. Pioneer life novels put life in perspective and makes it super easy to understand the hardships suffered by our predecessors and appreciate the comforts of our modern days.
The Storm Testament is a book by Lee Nelson, first published in 1982. It is an historical novel based on the journals written by the author's great-great grandfather, Dan Storm. The journals were lost for many years, and discovered to be serving as insulation in an old publishing building.
The book is disturbing in the detailed descriptions of the history of persecution and predjudice that is an ugly part of this nation's history.
It is an engaging novel, the first of a 4 part series, and taught me a lot about the differences in the various Native American tribe traditions and cultures. I had no idea the Native Americans were involved in the slave trading of women and children to Mexico, in an effort to gain horses, which was a sign of wealth. Horses were also used as a dowry to "buy" a woman from the head of her family.
In many ways, this was a disturbing novel, yet well written and certainly worth reading.
Good morning, Carol Williams I should spend more time reading books other than women and weightlifting!!!!!!!!!!! can't change an old dog and her habits...

Good morning Carol. How odd to lose a book to insulation. The slave trade part is not unusual but certainly troubling.

Good morning Gabe Sanders . I believe the younger generations need to have a better understanding of our past, in order to appreciate what they have. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.
Good morning Barbara Todaro . You're not too old to learn new tricks. You just have your priorities.
Good morning Sheila Anderson . Not exactly sure how it became insulation but what I can surmise from the prologue is: after the publishing company went out of business, the new owner of the building used the envelopes of manuscripts, that were stored in the attic, for insulation.

Very Interesting Carol Williams, I can see were horses back then would be use for lots of trading and I knew that blanks and horses where gifts to parents for a bride. A book in a wall, lucky someone found it.
