The Houston Museum of Fine Arts is located in the Museum District in Houston, it is close to Hermann Park where the Zoo is located. The Houston Museum of Fine Arts is the oldest art museum in Texas. It has several buildings and several campuses. It is closed on Monday’s except Monday Holidays. It is closed on Christmas Day, New Years Day and Thanksgiving.
It also include the Ima Hogg Home on the Bayous. This is one of the top Museums in the country with hundreds of thousands pieces of art. There is free parking available. If you have not seen the museum it is definitley a must see.
They hold many special events and exhibits this Sunday the 29th of January will be the last day to visit the current Exhibition of The Emperor's Treausres of China the exhibit is from the National Palace of Tapei.
Their exhibits are really wonderful I just missed the Degas exhibit it ended this month.
Other exhibits that are coming this year include Ron Mueck which starts next month, "The Adios Utopia: Dreams and Deceptions" in Cuban Art Since 1950 and Cuban Photography after 1980. I think the Cuban exhibits are perfectly timed as we now are allowed to travel to Cuba and the embargo has been lifted.
Have a good Sunday!
