The Inn at Playa Del Rey
The Inn at Playa Del Rey is one of our favorites for an adult overnight. Located in Playa Del Rey (not to be confused with nearby Playa Vista, nicknamed "Silicon Beach"), the Inn is a charming 21-room New England-style B and B on Culver Boulevard less than a mile from the beach and facing the beautiful Ballona Wetlands, a protected area of 3500 acres filled with bird life.
Our favorite room on the top floor (3rd) has spectacular views of the wetlands, and looking beyond to Marina Del Rey, and all of West LA including San Monica. The mountains beyond the city stretch from north of Malibu to the Hollywood Hills and further east to the snow-capped mountains east of downtown LA.
Each room is unique in style, and the marina/wetlands view rooms and suites offer fireplaces. There is a large gathering room with fireplace, comfy sofas and chairs and more views through the wall of windows and French Doors. The Inn offers wine, cheese, and other goodies at 5 pm daily, and a wonderful breakfast in the dining room We always feel transported back to New England when we stay, as we did Friday night. The staff and owners are the best and are always happy to help in any way to make your stay memorable. Free covered parking and WIFI, too!
Playa Del Rey is a charming small beach town with some terrific local restaurants (e.g., Caffe Pinguini, Cantilin's Salerno Beach Restaurant) within walking distance if you are ambitous, or a very short drive.
