Stone makes for a smart look

Stone veneer (picture above) can create a sharp look to a home and is very easy to install. All that is required is some adhesive (construction glue works great) and a 4 inch grinder with a cutting wheel.

With just a little bit of time and some patience, you can create an entirely different look to the interior or exterior of your home. The cost of materials is inexpensive as well, running about $1.05 per square foot for the stone pictured above.

To install, pre-place (dry fit) the stones as you would want them installed. Cut as required, glue and set into place. Do the bottom row first and I would recommend waiting a solid 10 or 15 minutes before starting the second row. After about 3 rows give the glue a solid few hours to set before moving on, this will help limit the chances of heartbreak, while you watch your hard work fall from the surface. Take a step back every few rows and view your work from a distance to make sure it looks as good as it does to you up close.
