Styro Cups and Icicles In The Desert!

Okay east coast friends - this is Tucson's version of a deep freeze - we hit 27 degrees last night - on my early morning trail run - it was cold and icy!  Brrrr - I mean just look at how frozen we were!

When it comes to this kind of "freeze" we see alot of fun ways people protect their plants and pipes outside - one of the most common and practicle ways to protect cactus - styrofoam cups - so you will see this alot around Tucson:

Other options are towels, blankets, tarps and fuzzy hats that do an excellent job protecting pool pumps and pipes! Whatever you choose - just know - cold freezes do not last long - in fact - by the weekend it will be 70 some degrees in Tucson - so you do not have to spend a lot of money on protecting pipes and plants - most important - just do it!

Gabrielle- Styrofoam cups on cactus!  I'd never heard of that but then again, we don't get temps like that here.    How interesting!

That's so funny with the cups on the tips of the cactus!  Does that save the flower buds or something?
