Permanent Attractions in Katy TX
Katy TX does not have a lot of permanent attractions to choose from but there are a few as shown below:
Railroad Park and Tourist Center -
The Railroad Park and Tourist Center is located at 5615 First Street Katy TX in the downtown area of Historic Katy TX. This downtown park is called a pocket park and is home to the Historic Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad Depot. This Depot has been restored as it serves as a Information and Tourist Center. Visitors to Katy TX can obtain maps, brochures and information about Katy and the surroundings areas at the Depot. The Katy Heritage Society Railroad Museum is also located inside the old Depot. The Depot displays several elements of the original depot and provides an explanation as to how the depot functioned and operated as a passenger rail service in Katy back in 1957. The Red Caboose inside the this pocket park is a local landmark.
Katy Heritage Museum -
The Katy Heritage Museum is located at 6202 George Bush Drive Katy TX and is inside the VFW park. This museum features vintage farming equipment from Katy historical agriculture era as well as items from its pioneering days. Many items are on display along with numerous very old photographs. The Museum has really cool and fascinating antiques.
It is open Thursday - Sunday from 11 AM until 5 PM. Admission is free of charge.
Katy Heritage Park Historical Homes-
The Katy Heritage Society mission is to be a basic foundation and conduit for historic local information and research of this area. The restored Historical homes are available and open for no charge the first weekend of every month. The hours are Saturday from 10 AM until 4 PM and on Sunday from 1 PM until 4 PM. There are special events such as community concerts from the bandstand plus other events. The Historical Homes are located at 5990 George Bush Dr. Katy TX.
