Happy Chinese New Year!

By

In China, children are often given red envelopes with money to celebrate the Chinese New Year. My daughter brought this little red envelope with a Chinese Yuen in it from a classmate whose parents are from China.  I love that my daughter's school, Delta Kelly, encourages multi-culturism.  We can learn so much from the way others live their lives.

The Chinese New Year gives us a second chance to embrace our New Year's resolutions that may have fallen by the wayside already in 2017.  I know I have personal and professional goals that I need to work harder on.  One goal was starting my AR blog, and now I am!

Wishing you all peace, prosperity, and tenacity in 2017 to fulfill your goals!

I think that is great too! I travel to China a lot with my other job. I like to keep for benefits. I think I will do something like that for my son. It's not too late. Only Sunday less than a week ago.

That sounds very exciting!  I have not been to China, but my husband has traveled there on business.  Such a fascinating culture.

Hi Beth - welcome to Active Rain. I see you asked about groups, and since the recent changes here,  I also wondered about how to find them. Go to the very bottom of the page - the right-hand column - and it's the very bottom link.

A good way to choose groups to join is to pick a post you enjoyed, then look between the end of the post and the comment section to see which groups it was posted to. Go visit them and see if you like what's there. If so - join!

You can post each of your offerings to 5 different groups, so join several!

Beth Bromund - I really appreciate this blog post. I have not heard of the red envelope before today. It's interesting how different cultures celebrate occasions in different ways. One of the reasons why I became a Girl Scout Leader (when my daughter was young) is because I wanted to expose her to culural diversity. This is something that I believe has been lacking in the school system for too many centuries. I no longer have children in school but I am aware how different it is today than when I was a student.

As mothers, we can learn vicariously through them and experience what their generation is going though and learning. How much better the world is when people begin to understand and accept cultural diversity for all the right reasons. I believe children teach us more than we often give them credit for.
