I just returned home last night from a short week up in Virgina visiting my son and his family. It never goes without fail that I learn something from my three year old granddaughter (today is her birthday).
Her words are always interesting to say the least and sometimes, inspiring. I think that can be said of most three year olds!
As we were preparing to leave Nana asked Alyssa if she was going to be sad when we left to go home.
Her response... "I can't be sad. I have to be happy."
This stuck in my mind as I drove all the way back to Florida.
There is a lesson in there for us all. While the event that occurred was not pleasant (she likes us to stay as much as we do) it was not devastating.
There was no reason to be sad.
But, more importantly, her comment about happy was impressive.
Any of us on Earth for more than a week understand that not everything that happens is good.
But it is our attitude that determines how we see the world. This almost sounds like Lou Ludwig!
Happy birthday, Alyssa.... stay happy!
Back home, work awaits.... check your attitude, papa! People are waiting to buy a new house in Florida!
