Passion cannot be faked. One can wear a mask or pretend, but after a while the truth has a way of seeping through the crevices and coming forth in all its glory.
It usually doesn't take more than a few moments to determine if someone truly enjoys what they're doing or is simply performing a task for a paycheck.
I will never forget the day I stopped at Salvation Army to make a clothing donation. The woman that accepted the bag was in the process of sorting a pile of clothes. She paused to look me in the eye. Her eyes looked tired and then I further noticed that one of her arms was paralyzed and she was sorting with only one arm. Her face had a gentle tenderness and her smile could brighten the most dismal day. Perhaps out of habit I inquired, "How are you today?" Her response was intentional, and her words struck a chord deep within me that I can still feel until today..."Better than Great."
Each life is like a pebble that is tossed into the river and none of us know the profound ripple effects of a word spoken, a hug extended, or a simple gesture.
I am a Realtor because I truly believe that what I do makes a difference in the lives of the clients I serve. I love knowing that Karli and Kyle were able to put up a Christmas tree this past December in their very first home and that Bill continues to enjoy weekend excursions to his dream cabin. It's exciting to know that Darle is busy preparing to live closer to her daughter and the new buyers are thrilled to create new memories in their new home. Whether I have listed a home for sale, or worked with buyers to find their dream home, it is humbling to see the ripple effects of my work.
Take a drive and turn down any residential street and I assure you that each house has a story to be told. A story of challenges, and perhaps even sprinkled with perseverance, commitment, tears, hope and joy. Those are the ingredients that turn a mere house into a home and that's why being a Realtor is a privilege that is - "Better than Great"...!!
