Anyone who has seen this movie knows exactly what we're referencing.  It’s a movie about four real estate agents competing to keep their jobs.  Their real estate company hires a corporate trainer whose mode of ‘motivation’ is pitting agent against agent in a cutthroat competition.  During his training period, only the two top producers will keep their jobs, and the other two will be fired.

I came from the media sales world, and it was always unnerving when the sales manager posted ‘the chart’ showing all our sales figures.  If I wasn’t the top producer that month, it was humiliating.  But I learned to turn that to my advantage with one word:  FOCUS

Do you feel like you’re constantly playing ‘follow the leader’?  Do you consistently feel frustrated watching other agents win awards and rake in the dough?  Do you feel like you're floundering with your purpose rather than finding your place?

It doesn’t have to be this way.  First, people do business with people.  Your personal brand is essential to your success. Second, if you haven't yet found your niche, it's never too late.  Your niche doesn't have to be a specific property type, customer type or geographic location.  It could be your attributes, specific expertise or even something personal that just plain 'stands out'.  When you take your brand seriously, you'll find that there are up to six different areas where you could be missing the mark.  And when you define, develop and execute these six, you'll see a tremendous difference in how you feel about YOU, how others view you, how your purpose becomes insanely clear...and how you begin to attract exactly the type of customers you want.  The goal is to make you the most recognizable and sought-after agent in your market and niche. 

So the next time that chart goes up, you can gloat instead of hide.
