Watching the Superbowl and Selling your home do not mix well

Do you have to make the choice of showing your home or having a Superbowl Party? This is the heart of Patriot's Country after all and the Superbowl is kind of a big thing here in the Manchester NH area.  I have a home listing, the seller is having a Super Bowl get together right now. A buyer agent called earlier "demanding" to see a home right now without notice. When they were told they could not see the home without notice, they went there anyway without an appointment.

Super Bowl or no Super Bowl, when a home is owner occupied, a seller requires some notice, you can not just show up at a house and demand to see it.

Normally the question would be asked if this is the one and only time a buyer can see it. Every attempt would be made to accommodate them to get them inside. But the manner the way one asks has alot to do with it.

The seller went as far to say "if the buyer wants to join us, they can walk through the home no issue". The buyer agent though did not allow the time to work anything out, as they just went there. The seller let the buyer in but not the agent. The buyer told the seller they could have come Monday, so it was easy to figure out where the issue started and ended.

THE BOTTOM LINE is that the BEST way to go about any home sale or purchase is to know that the consumer should not choose just any agent. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. By using a philosophy, which is simple, to provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process, I can help you find your dream home or sell your property. Your agent can stand behind you and assist with obstacles such as this.

Hi Scott Godzyk - It sounds like your seller was very accomodating and the buyer's agent just does not appreciate Patriot football! Your right, there is always a right way to handle this.

Egos can get in the way of sound business practice.  That agent forgot to check the ego at the door and think for the buyer

I just got back from showing a home, but it wasn't mine and I'm still back in time for snacks and kickoff!

There can be a strange combination go on during Super Bowl.  On one hand you can have a herd of football widows out looking at Open Houses, during the big game.  Couple that with sellers trying to sell their homes while hosting a Super Party at the same time can be interesting.

Wow, Scott, that agent was out of line.  Nice to know who was causing the problem, although I just don't understand why they were so difficult.  This isn't a competition.

So true, Scott. If you want to sell make it available within reason whenever the buyer wants to see it. It is that simple.

While not everything stops for football fans to enjoy the Super Bowl, this buyer would have been smart to set up an appointmentn and not just show up.  That's rude.

Hi Scott - Your seller's were very acommodating and did everything they could, in spite of the selling agent's rudeness. I hope you get an offer from it.
