What it Takes

Education & Training with TEAM Hughes Real Estate School REI#ZH1003093

TEAM Hughes teaches to students in different settings, e.g. pre license, post license, broker’s license.  We see students from all walks of life, with different personalities, all wanting to reach different goals.  Many times, I wonder if a certain student will have what it takes to make it as a real estate agent or REALTOR®.  Some seem to be struggling constantly while others appear to be gliding along nicely, heading for the goal.

I know what it takes to achieve real estate success.  I can often pinpoint a successful real estate agent, as well as an agent who isn’t going to make it; however, what has happened over the years is that the game has changed, and what it takes is not the same either.  Today, it takes greater technical knowledge, as well as product knowledge and marketing knowledge.  The world moves faster, and real estate agents must keep up with a myriad of changes that continually come their way.  Our fast-paced world requires quick responses to questions from consumers.  We cannot afford to procrastinate for fear of the consumer finding answers elsewhere.

While personality will always be a contributor to what it takes to be successful, we can no longer rely on just our charm.  Without knowing the product or without knowing how to market oneself, a competent real estate agent could be left behind.  Tenacity is important, as are people skills.  It helps to know your neighbors and to make sure everyone you know realizes you are a real estate agent.  You need to answer calls, emails, texts and Facebook posts (on your business page) quickly.  Gone are the days you can put off answering phone calls.  Many agents let every call go into voicemail, but I wonder how difficult that may make returning calls.  Screening calls is not a bad thing if you have time to return the ones you want the same day you receive them.

I don’t pretend to know everything it takes to become successful in today’s world.  I do know certain right things are still needed.  The old idiom, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies to your real estate career.  A successful real estate career has and always will require a real estate agent who practices from the heart.  You must love something about this business.  You must be willing to serve other people.  Along the way, however, doing the right thing is what it takes to becoming successful the right way.  Know your product, know how to use technology, and know how to market yourself and your services.

TEAM Hughes Real Estate School has established itself as the best real estate school in Pensacola and we know what it takes to serve our students properly.  Throughout any course you take, you will experience our tenacity, our love of serving and our knowledge.  Give us a call so we can help you on the road to your real estate success.  We’re here to serve you.

There are natural abilities but some must be taught and it sounds like you know how to do that. Good article!

I would add that to be a successful real estate agent you must like driving,  because you sure do a lot of it.
