Before you hire a contractor to perform a kitchen renovation, due diligence on the contractor is the most critical step one can take in the selection process. There are many licensed and insured contractors out there. Many of them today used to be new construction contractors and now want to enter the playground with the "big boys". Renovations are a totally different animal than new construction. There are too many unknown factors with renovations which can arise. We try to expose many of the possibilities of these unknowns ahead of time, so that the owner is not caught by surprise. Just because a contractor is licensed and insured, doesn't mean he is the best at all facets. My grandmother is a licensed and insured driver, I refuse to lend her my car.....get the point?
