The Grass Is Greener Sometimes - Or How I Ended Up at Keller Williams

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty New Tampa

Since becoming a real estate agent over ten years ago - at the
height of the market I might add - I have managed to bounce around from no less than 6 brokerages including the one I am currently with - Keller Williams Realty New Tampa. That's an average of 2 years at any one place. The reason? I'm not really sure to be honest. Maybe I believed in the old saying that the "grass is always greener". Or maybe I just never found that right match. But now, having survived the melt-down and once again am able to make a living as a Realtor, I find myself finally with a company I can actually see myself staying with for years to come. Part of it is the people - my broker, team leader and office manager all have a positive, no nonsense approach to business and provide excellent support, advice and encouragement. But most importantly, Keller Williams really supports the agent as an individual business entity and provides multiple ways to grow their business with minimal fees - my favorite being profit-sharing - something I never had in any of the other brokerages. Keller Williams sometimes gets a bad rap - I used to think they made you do things a certain way, which turns out to not be true at all. I'm happy to say my partner and I continue to run our business the way we want and receive complete support from our office - and have actually had some of the best years ever in real estate since joining Keller Williams Realty New Tampa! I just got a phone call the other day from another brokerage company that is looking to increase their sales force and wanted to talk with me about what they had to offer. In the past I would have made an appointment, just to hear what they had to say - but I could honestly tell them this time that I was quite happy exactly where I was!

We're on the other end of the spectrum, having only changed brokerages once in 15 years, and it was just from one office to another of the same overall franchise.  We like what we have and no reason to change.  We have listened to other offers every now and then and declined.  In most cases, the offices making the offers have gone the way of the dodo bird.
