There’s value in most of what we do in the real estate business, if it’s done properly. Open house events are frequently a topic of conversation on ActiveRain. I’m a promoter of the team members providing an open house event every weekend on more than one property.
I’ll begin with the statement “it’s always show time in the real estate business.” The meaning of that statement refers to handling each task as if it were an “interview” by the potential future client, regardless of whether you’ve ever met that person in the past or not.
How you handle yourself; how you communicate; and how you present the listing during an open house event will determine the value of that open house event. I market every open house like I mean it; and the host for every open house carries through with that attitude.
Keep your head in the business, and assume that every visitor will be a future client. Your attitude while participating in any real estate task is a reflection of how you will handle your business once it’s yours.
All of the team members realize that their present actions will determine the results of their future business. Our open house events are continually “a stage” for us to provide the true meaning of “market like you mean it.” Open house events are “events” for us.
We market them prior to the event to direct traffic to them. We market US during the event while promoting the property. We are frequently contacted after the event with a request for a Market Analysis and/or a request to meet with the caller to discuss seeing other properties.
Open house events are as powerful as we are focused on securing future business. That future business, on occasion, will consist of the next buyer for the subject property. Yes, we have sold a home because of the open house event. It’s not frequent, but it has happened.
One never knows what business will result from an open house event. One never knows what business will result from a blog post or direct mail marketing or networking. Any marketing method is as good as the agent’s efforts to make it a worthwhile task.
Market like you mean it, and you’ll make a score one way or another!!
