Failing sewer lines causing major headaches for Quakertown residents - WFMZ

Crumbling sewer laterals in Quakertown, along West Broad Street, are causing a financial burden to many residents.

Very few property owners are aware that they are responsible for repairs to their sewer line (sewer lateral). It’s a privately-owned pipeline connecting a property to the publicly-owned main sewer line.

If you are purchasing a home with public sewer, I recommend that you make an educated buying decision and pay for a sewer or septic line inspection.  The time to find out if a sewer line needs repair or replacement is BEFORE buying a home, not after the fact.

For most home buyers the sewer lines are probably not on their radar with everything else going on. Good advice Cheri.
