With postage rates rising again (see our previous blog, Stamps Go Up Another Penny, on the new rates!), the U.S. Post Office has devised a clever solution for those who wish to remain immune, at least temporarily, to the rising rates.
The solution: The Forever Stamp
Being sold until May 12, 2008, the day the new rates go into effect, the Forever Stamp costs just 41¢, even as rates rise to 42¢.
So if you send a lot of mail -- or simply want to hold onto the 41¢ rate for a little longer -- the Forever Stamp may be for you. Sold in books of 20 or in packets of 5 books of 20 (100 in all), the Forever Stamp may be the answer for small businesses to reign in spending on postage. If you have a strong business plan in place and know what you'll be mailing out between now and the end of the year, it may be a benefit to you to purchase these stamps. However, if you don't send out mass quantities of mail, the $1.00 savings per roll may not justify to initial outlay of funds to "stamp" yourself for the rest of the year.
In a world of chaotic rising prices -- gas, food, travel -- the Forever Stamp may help some people feel like they have a little bit more control, at least in one area of spending!
