Setting up Facebook Messenger to work with your phone allows you to answer Facebook messages from potential and current clients in a more time-effective and professional manner. This article will walk you through the steps you need to take to download your Facebook Messenger Code, setup your Facebook Response Assistant, and manage your Facebook Messenger Messages from your iOS or Android phone.

Download Your Facebook Messenger Code Image

Download Your Messenger Code for Personal Profiles
First, download and install Facebook Messenger for iOS or Android. Then, log into Facebook Messenger.
Open Messenger to view your code. Tap Settings and you will see your messenger code displayed. On Android, click and hold the image until a notification asks if you want to save or send the code. Click save.
If you are working with SIMC, download your Facebook Messenger code and send to SIMC so that we may use this on your website. Otherwise, use this image on your contact page or marketing material to encourage potential clients to send you a message on Facebook.
Download Your Messenger Code for Business Pages
(You Must be an Admin of the Page)
Visit your page and click on the Messages tab.
At the bottom of the page, in the lower left corner, click on the icon to download your messenger code.
Then simply click on the button to download the largest available option for use on your website. Send the image to SIMC so that we may place this on your website. Otherwise, use this image on your contact page or marketing material to encourage potential clients to send you a message on Facebook.
Response Assistant
Response Assistant allows you to automatically reply to Facebook Messenger users with a quick note to let them know that you have received their message.
Once you have downloaded your Facebook Messenger code image, simply click on the Response Assistant tab to setup your automatic response.
Setting Your Away Reply
Under Response Assistant Settings, click to switch "Stay Responsive when you can't get to your computer or phone" to Yes and then change the message to your preferred message (if desired). This setting helps to let people know that you have not forgotten about them and keeps your Facebook Messenger response rating when you can’t answer right away.
You can also add a personal touch by clicking on “Add Personalization”
Setting Your Instant Reply
Under Response Assistant Settings, click to switch “Send Instant Replies to anyone who messages your Page” to Yes and then change the message to your preferred message (if desired).
Setting Your Messenger Greeting
Under Response Assistant Settings, click to switch “Show a Messenger Greeting” to Yes and then change the message to your preferred message (if desired).
Manage Your Facebook Messenger Messages
Managing Messages for Your Personal Profile
Simply Download the Facebook Messenger App for iOS or Android to your phone. Log into your Facebook account through Facebook Messenger and you will be notified when potential clients begin to send you messages to your personal profile as long as you have Facebook Messenger running on your phone.
You must keep the app running on your phone to receive notifications. If you close the app, you will not receive notifications.
Managing Messages for Your Business Page
Download the Facebook Pages Manager for iOS or Android to your phone (you must be an admin of the business page). Log into your Pages Manager account through the app and you will be notified when potential clients begin to send you messages to your business page as long as you have Facebook Messenger running on your phone.
You must keep the app running on your phone to receive notifications. If you close the app, you will not receive notifications.
