I blogged last week that there was a SpaceX launch on Saturday. Due to technical problems, that launch was postponed until Sunday. The launch from Kennedy Space Center launch pad 39A was difficult to see due to low cloud cover, but, this particular launch was important. Launch pad 39A is significant because the last time it was used was for the last space shuttle launch.
Sunday's launch marked the first time that a SpaceX Rocket landed on solid ground. Previously they had landed on a platform out in the ocean, but 8 minutes after the launch this one landed on Terra Firma, creating a massive sonic boom in the process.
“Baby came back,” CEO Elon Musk posted on Instagram.
I've said it before and I will say it again, Elon Musk is a visionary!
