Wordless Wednesday: I confess, musically I'm eclectic.
I totally scored last Sunday at Half Price Books in Redmond!

Hi Rene
My musical tastes are pretty eclectic, too, except for country, hip hop and rap, but I admit a passion for jazz of all types. I haven't heard The Ventures in quite some time. I grew up outside Philadelphia and I definitely remember American Bandstand and of course Dick Clark!

I like a wide variety of music too. I've had a bit of a problem warming up to hip hop though!

You and I Jerry Lucas have so much in common! Love all of those songs you mention and played them often when I was still doing clubs!

I played sax, flute, guitar and bass guitar, in the marching band, concert band, jazz band, polka band, rock band, and country band. Lots of fun and spending money.
I remember playing at a hay dance in a barn on a farm. Another time we played on a flatbed truck in the A&P grocery store parking lot. And wedding receptions and reunions at the American Legion. The good old days.
Our rock band recorded some demo tapes at the studios with the engineer for Tommie James and the Shondells. And we once played as the warm-up act for Motown's Martha and the Vandellas (Heat Wave, Dancing in the Street).
In my small coal mining town, there was no classical music on the radio. That was for rich, big city folks, with college degrees, far away in the foreign lands of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
Hi Jeff Dowler ... I love so many different kinds of music, yet have to agree that I'm not a Hip Hop or Rap fan... Primarily because I come from a time before and hold dear different traditions when it comes to song.
Thanks Myrl Jeffcoat ... In me there's the traditional and the avante garde... I have a passion for song, form, and counterpoint... I love old standards, Cowboy Western music from the 40s and 50s, yet adore Mozart, Bach, Stravinsky and the Beatles too...
My fav haunts are used bookstores and record stores Grant Schneider !! I'm so at home when let loose in shops like these... Always honor past and take the trip to the adventure future. Thanks!
Half priced books and the Ventures, you were in heaven Rene Fabre!

I shop that Half-Price Books all-too-frequently. I'm on a quest to get everything Melissa Etheridge has ever produced. And Cyndi Lauper, Bette Midler, Senegalese jazz....

I have eclectic music tastes as well, and in fact, when I put all my CDs into my Bose system years ago, I even named my channel "eclectic" because it's got a bit of everything.

First Ventures song I ever heard was Telstar and have been a fan for life. Variety is the spice of life Rene!

I was totally in heaven Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, Broker, Tacoma Washington !! Nothing like a bookstore on a rainy Sunday in February!
Hi Lauren Williams !! Very cool! One of my favorite Half Price Books! I used to work in Redmond back in 1998 - 2000... I'd take my kids here. I love the music section! When I was there I saw some Cyndi Lauper and Bette Midler!!!
Hi Rene, I am with you 100%. Our tastes are very similar.

Hi Kat Palmiotti ... I can relate... I love burning CDs for my truck for when I'm doing my day out and about... Most of them are labeled "Eclectic #1... #2..." etc. Cuz I have no idea how to explain quickly and there's not enough room on a CD to write it all down... ;O)
Truly, variety is the spice! Kevin J. May !! I so remember when I first heard Telstar! "THE FUTURE!" Loved it then, love it now (for different reasons of course) but just the same, totally part of the soundtrack of my life! Thanks!
