A Tale of Two Generations of Home Buyers

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams First Coast Realty - The Marro Team

Targeting a home sale to the demographic most likely to buy the home is a best marketing practice.

A study by The National Association of Realtors conducted in 2016 states that 61 % of buyers right now were born between the years of 1965 and 2000. 35% of them are millennials.

One of the most important things to understand about this huge demographic of buyers that makes it different from previous buyers is that they spent an inordinate amount of time watching and helping their parents work on the family home on weekends. They were exposed to a lot of home improvement shows on television, and don't want to spend their weekends as adults, doing the same thing.

They are looking for visually appealing, energy efficient, well-built homes that are similar in workmanship to the homes they grew up in, but on a smaller scale and with low maintenance yards.

They want to spend their free time at home entertaining, not doing "chores." In addition, they are searching for these homes almost exclusively online, making presentation key, and pro photography essential.
